Starting in January 2026, we’ll meet at the Offline Shop. Königsbrücker Straße 38, 01099 Dresden.
We’ll start 30 minutes later. Registration at 6:30 p.m. Start at 7 p.m.

During the pandemic, online chess has experienced a huge boom. Shows like *The Queen’s Gambit* have further fueled the enthusiasm—and many of us have played countless games on Lichess and similar platforms.

For over three years now, we’ve been meeting every month as a passionate community of hobbyists to play rapid chess—the old-fashioned way. Instead of a screen: a real board. Instead of avatars: real people. Touching the pieces, feeling the tension at the table, discussing the game afterward, learning from each other, and getting better together. That’s exactly what makes chess truly enjoyable.

Everyone who’s passionate about chess but hasn’t been playing in a club for years is invited. For example: Did you last play chess as a child, rediscover the game recently, and have since played quite a few games on Lichess? You’re very welcome.

Note:
Everything is self-organized. It’s all about having fun with chess. Since we don’t have enough equipment, we ask that you:
► Feel free to bring your own chess set if you have one.
► A chess clock or, alternatively, an app on your smartphone would also be great. Lichess, for example, is well-suited for this (free, open-source).

Registration:
Pre-registration is required. Please register here:
► The registration link will be posted online in due time.
► Space is limited. Please register early.
► If you’re unable to attend at the last minute, please send me a quick email to let me know so I can free up your spot.
► If all spots are already filled, you can send an email (ben.zschorn@scheune.org). We’ll then put you on the waitlist and let you know if any spots become available.
► Please arrive by 6:45 p.m. at the latest. After that, any remaining spots will be given to people who drop by spontaneously that evening.

Rules:
► Rapid chess 10+5 (10 minutes of thinking time + 5 seconds per move)
► Tournament format: 6 rounds using the Swiss system
The main goal is to have fun playing chess!

Entry fee:
► We’d really appreciate it if you could contribute between €5 and €15 to help cover our costs.
