In the organizer's words:
Sweet Memory
If there was such a thing as a hit song during the Renaissance, it was “Doulce mémoire” by Pierre Sandrin. This French chanson is about the (bittersweet) memory of a past love, which the composer set to a melody that is as catchy as it is melodious. This polyphonic setting was one of the best-known songs of its time and was widely popular throughout Europe—even entire masses were inspired by the chanson.
