The piano-less saxophone trio is a genre of its own in jazz. It was pioneered in 1957 by Sonny Rollins (d. May 2026) with his album “Way Out West.” The young British-Bavarian saxophonist Edi May pays tribute to this great role model with great expressiveness and invites listeners to take stock after seven decades.
