Johanna Soller| Conductor
For the last time this season—and also to bid farewell to its artistic director, Johanna Soller—the Munich Bach Choir will perform at St. Markus in Munich. As part of the Bach² concert series, the audience can look forward to an evening of music featuring major works from 20th-century French choral literature and music by Johann Sebastian Bach.
Frank Martin, Duruflé, and Bach
The program centers on Frank Martin’s impressive“Messe pour double chœur,” a masterpiece of a cappella literature. The concert is complemented byMaurice Duruflé’s melodious“Quatre Motets,” which rank among the most popular sacred choral works in the French repertoire. In between, selectedorgan works by Johann Sebastian Bach, performed by Johannes Lamprecht, will be featured, providing a special musical bridge for the Bach² series.
Johanna Soller’s Farewell Concert
With this concert, Johanna Soller bids farewell to the Munich Bach Choir after formative years as its artistic director. Munich’s historic St. Mark’s Church provides a particularly fitting setting for this occasion: it was here that the choir was founded, and it is here that a significant chapter in its history now comes to a close.
