Six years after his last album—the Grammy-nominated LP5 from 2019—Sascha Ring, better known as Apparat, is back. He had been suffering from writer’s block. Writing new music? For the otherwise prolific musician—who enjoys worldwide success not only as a solo artist but also as part of the trio Moderat with Modeselektor—it suddenly became a challenge. The solution? Let go of the drive for perfection! Instead, between March and September of last year, Ring set himself the goal of developing one song idea every day, no matter how unfinished it might be. The plan worked—the moving “Hum of Maybe” is the result. Ring is touring this album with a full band setup and, in collaboration with his fellow musicians, is creating a unique live performance.
