Alphabetisierung für Frauen

Literacy, reading, writing, and speaking every Monday and Thursday. We invite women to join a new version of our program, where they can immerse themselves in the German language together with others. The program isn’t about perfect expression or flawless writing, but rather about fear-free conversation and a relaxed approach to the German language in a welcoming atmosphere.

Our experience over the past few years has shown that there are many women who can already express themselves a little in German but are not familiar with the Latin alphabet. Conversely, there are women who know the Latin alphabet but have had little practice speaking so far. We’d like to bring these women—who have little or no knowledge of German—together to help them overcome their inhibitions about the foreign language and make new connections.

Our instructor works with a small group of up to 8 women on Monday and Thursday mornings. The program is designed to be accessible and can be used to supplement other language courses. We hope that the women who register will attend as consistently as possible. There is no certified certificate of completion. Women with young children are warmly invited to have their children cared for by an experienced staff member on our premises during class time.

Smaller activities, such as walks, cooking, sewing, and theater visits at the Goldbekhaus, can also be part of the sessions, depending on the interests of the participants.
We hope this program reaches interested women in Hamburg Nord and that they may be accompanied to the first session. We’re happy to offer our support in this regard.

The women are supported by an experienced language teacher. The focus is on getting to know one another and sharing experiences. A special feature of the course is that toddlers brought along are cared for on the children’s floor during class time.

LITERACY | Workshop for Women with Children
Learn the Latin alphabet. This workshop is aimed at women—whether you’ve just arrived or have been here for a while—who would like to familiarize themselves with the Latin alphabet in order to learn to read, speak, and write German. Mothers with children are especially welcome—a childcare provider will look after the children in the play area while the moms are learning next door.

Literacy | Course for Women and Children

Learn the Latin Alphabet | This workshop is designed for women—whether long-time residents or newcomers—who wish to learn the Latin alphabet as a foundation for writing in German. We especially welcome mothers with young children, as childcare will be provided. We’ll start by playing with the children at the “Goldbekhaus” center, and then the mothers will join the session.
