Here’s what the organizer says:
Goethe’s famous “fairy tale”—arguably his most mysterious work—serves as a stage for exploring questions of magic, nature, utopia, and the search for meaning—then as now. This fantastical tale of community, courage, and self-efficacy has been reinterpreted time and again. Conceived as a “work in progress,” this special exhibition explores what Goethe’s “fairy tale”—and fairy tales in general—reveal about ourselves. Even in our time of crises, the “fairy tale” remains relevant: Why did Goethe choose this form in particular, and how do we tell stories of the marvelous today? Discover what the fantastical can mean to us today—the accompanying program invites you to dream, create, and tell stories together.
