Forty years of the Fantasy Filmfest—a reason to be proud, to celebrate together, and to look forward to all the exciting things to come.

A talking fox, adorable alien babies, an orange stuffed unicorn on a bloodlust spree: Even after forty years, the Fantasy Filmfest continues to uncover wondrous, crazy, and bizarre genre gems and remains a bastion of unique entertainment—from the thrilling opening film *LEVITICUS* to the intense centerpiece *THE PLAGUE* to this year’s Director’s Spotlight, dedicated to Park Hoon-jung with *TRISTES TROPIQUES*, and our sensational closing film, *HOPE*.

Longtime collaborators like Joko Anwar (GHOST IN THE CELL), Quentin Dupieux (VERTIGINOUS), Quarxx (THE ONES WHO GRIEVE), and Damian McCarthy (HOKUM) join forces with new voices such as Marion Le Corroller (SPECIES), Casper Kelly (BUDDY), and Alphan Eşeli (MUTTER: THE DIARY OF A MOTHER). Grand love stories (CAROLINA CAROLINE) clash with drastic relationship scenarios (FUCK MY SON!, SICKO). Diversity has always been our motto.

To celebrate our anniversary, we’re also presenting four milestones in the festival’s history: *A CHINESE GHOST STORY* in a 4K restoration, Nicolas Roeg’s *DON’T LOOK NOW*, the serial killer thriller *THE CHASER*, and *BEASTS OF THE SOUTHERN WILD*.

Of course, our popular competitions FEAR GOOD and FRESH BLOOD, as well as the short film competition GET SHORTY, will be back again.
