𝟑𝟓𝐦𝐦 𝐅𝐫𝐞𝐢𝐥𝐮𝐟𝐭𝐤𝐢𝐧𝐨 𝐢𝐦 𝐏𝐚𝐫𝐤 𝐝𝐞𝐫 𝐕𝐢𝐥𝐥𝐚 𝐁𝐞𝐫𝐠

On four late-summer evenings—Saturdays from August 29 through September 19, 2026—the Villa Berg park will once again become the setting for a special movie experience: The open-air cinema will present a selection of films from the late 1960s and early 1970s under the open sky—projected in their original formats.

The open-air cinema invites you to (re)discover the New German Cinema: By the late 1960s, a group of young filmmakers had grown tired of postwar German cinema, which was dominated by Heimatfilms. Inspired by movements such as the French Nouvelle Vague, they declared a break with the past and reflected the social moods of their time in their films. This was particularly evident in new, self-assured female characters who would previously have been almost unimaginable in German cinema. The open-air cinema is dedicated to these women with summer films in the park of Villa Berg. Featuring appearances by Uschi Obermaier, Eva Renzi, Uschi Glas, Margarethe von Trotta, and Hanna Schygulla.

To set the mood, different DJs will spin vinyl records every evening. “Pop in the Park” will feature a special focus on soul music. The events take place every evening starting at 7 p.m. in the Villa Berg park. The films begin at dusk. Andreas Vogel (Montagegruppe) will host the evenings.
