Jugendjazzorchester Niedersachsen "Wind Machine"
In the artist's words:
Wind Machine, the Lower Saxony Youth Jazz Orchestra sponsored by the State Music Council, is known for its energetic and versatile big band jazz. The ensemble brings together about 30 young jazz talents aged 13–25 from across the state. Founded in 1989, Wind Machine looks back on a rich and varied history: over 400 concerts, several CD recordings, and international tours, including to France, Russia, and China. Members are selected through an annual audition workshop and meet regularly for structured rehearsal periods during which they develop their joint program. The youth jazz orchestra thus represents an intensive form of musical talent development that extends far beyond individual concerts.
The patron of all state youth selection ensembles of the Lower Saxony State Music Council is the incumbent Minister-President. Like the other state youth selection ensembles, the Youth Jazz Orchestra receives support from the NDR Music Promotion Program in Lower Saxony. The State Music Council, as the sponsoring organization, receives institutional funding from the Ministry of Science and Culture of the State of Lower Saxony.
