Nao Katafuchi creates a cold, cinematic sonic world rooted in minimal synth and darkwave. Raised in Tokyo during the technological boom of the 1980s, he later moved to New York’s Lower East Side, where he emerged from the legendary Wierd Records scene alongside key figures of the minimal synth revival.

Blending melancholic Japanese and English lyrics with analog textures, he made his debut with Yumegoto (2012), followed by Émergence (2015) and Stahlgrau (2019). He has shared stages with artists such as ChameleonsVox, Rational Youth, Psyche, Attrition, and Parade Ground, steadily building an international presence.

Now based in Germany for over a decade, he continues to expand his reach, with a new album Lonely Fire scheduled for release in June 2026, ahead of an upcoming Latin American tour.
